How Much Web Design can Cost

Maybe this is the first question that all professionals ask when they start to face real life, and a client asks for a quote. How much should I charge? And it’s not an easy question to answer since the price differences in similar jobs can be outrageous, primarily considering the designer and the client.

Therefore, perhaps the first thing is to situate ourselves in the market as professionals and know who we are targeting, what our clients are or can be.

One of the ways to value the price is to try to make us a formula that allows us to establish a valid price for our work :

Determining our hourly wage: (Costs + Salary) / Hours worked per year = at a rate per hour. Using this formula, if we want to earn 60,000 euros a year, and spend 10,000 Euros a year on hosting, stock photo/videos, sources, software … and if we usually work 40 hours a week (2,000 hours a year) every hour would be ( 10,000 + 60,000) / 2,000 = 35 Euros Or Dollars/hrs. Often there are many steps we have to take to grow as professionals and we can consider establishing ourselves as freelance designers, some of those steps can also be small or big stumbling blocks that we will have to consider as part of the process of professional and personal growth. Calculate the costs.

We often think that we will simply have to connect the computer and start working without more, but all work involves not only a professional effort, but a previous investment effort to start the activity, as well as maintenance costs. Basically, we have two possibilities for the denomination: make our name a brand or create a name/brand that we consider to be more representative of our activity or style as well as being more recognizable.

Many designers use their name as a brand, which gives a more humanistic touch and makes customers more clear that it is an individual, with everything that may have positive or negative in some moments.

In general terms, some of the criteria for the names should be: Short, easy to pronounce, not offensive in any language, preferably with positive connotations, recordable …

The visual system must be: unique, reflecting the characteristics of the company, timeless, easy to reproduce in all kinds of materials and sizes, combinable with other symbols and brands, flexible, appropriate for different circumstances and acceptable to all cultures and religions.

Usually the designer considers the elaboration of a logo from a name. As well as the use of the name with some abstract and straightforward indicative. The incorporation of some humanistic element is recommended.
